Services held for Rose Harkness, 73
Funeral services for Rose Harkness was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 11 at Sacred Heart Church with Rey. Fr. Tom Braak officiating. Inurnment was in West View Cemetery,in La Porte City. Pallbearers were:, Joe Arbaugh, Jason Harkness, Eddie McFarland, Aaron Harkness, Chrissy McFarland, and Jon Richards. Honorary pallbearers were: Nicolle Harkness, Tiffany Harkness, and Samantha Lynch. Huisman Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Rose, 73, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center from natural causes.
Rose L. Harkness was born August 21, 1927 in Cresco, the daughter of Ed and Rose Emma (Rhiele) Herold.
On November 29, 1947 she married Robert A. Harkness in Waterloo. Rose worked for various local businesses in La Porte City. She graduated in 1945 from Notre Dame High School.
She is survived by her husband; seven sons: Timothy, Robin, Frank, Kenneth, David, and Joseph all of La Porte City, and Anton of Ankeny; four daughters: Lorraine McFarland and Doris Parker of La Porte City, Marlene Arbaugh of Webster City, and Ruth Richards of Waco, TX; 31 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Edward and Elmore of Waterloo, and Cyril of Oskaloosa; and four sisters: Eunella Dempewolf and Ruth Ratkovich of Waterloo, Luella Bumikel of Cresco, and Lillian Daughenbaugh of Downey, CA.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Wilford and Cletus.
