Memorial services for John “Jack” Fitzgerald of Cedar Rapids were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17 at Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. Teahen Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
John, 74, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at Willow Gardens Care Center after a brief illness.
John Lucien Fitzgerald was born February 28, 1927 in Tea Garden, IN, the son of Lucien Aloysuis and Catherine Lucille (Whalen) Fitzgerald. The family moved to Cresco in 1934. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1944. He then graduated from Pharmacy School at the University of Iowa in 1956. He married Marjette Hovden in 1952. He practiced pharmacy for many years in Centerville. In 1979, he moved to Missouri and practiced pharmacy until he retired in 1989.
He is survived by one son: Douglas John of Des Moines; one daughter: DeAnn Marie Fitzgerald of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and two sisters Mary Ellen Bergquist of Bethany Beach,DE and Peggy Dion of Seattle. WA.
