Funeral services for Effie Evans were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 3 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. Rev. Linda Johnson officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs with burial in spring. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Effie, 97, died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Evans Memo-rial Nursing Home. Effie had previously resided at Grand Meadow, MN for two years.
Effie Evans was bom December 25, 1903 at Gilman the daughter of Ingvold and Mathilda Swift. Effie attended school in the Chester-Lime Springs area. She worked at the telephone office for several years.
Oh February 20, 1938 she married Robert K. Evans. They farmed all their married life in Old Town.
Effie was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star Uptopia chapter 379 OES and held the office of Secretary for several years. She became a member of the Oneata Club in 1947 and held offices for past President and past County Chairman of Howard County federated clubs. Effie was also a 4-H leader for several years, and a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She has been a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church since 1993.
Effie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters; and one brother.
