Services held for Donald Clapp, 74
Donald Clapp, 74, of Riceville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at his residence following an illness.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 19, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Riceville with Rev. Carol Ivey and Rev. Herschel Hawf officiating.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville with military rites by Roy Gue Post 244 the American Legion.
Donald was born December 31, 1926, son of Elmo and Mabel Graff Clapp, in Howard County, Iowa. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Riceville High School. He served in World War II in the security agency from 1944-1945. On February 11, 1966, he was united in marriage to Ethel Drewelow. He was a barber, worked on the railroad, put in field tile, and retired as part owner of the Mini Mart in Riceville.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of Riceville; one son, Randy E. Clapp of Cresco, Iowa; three daughters, Connie Jenkins and her husband Jeff of Little Cedar, Iowa; Noelle Kramer of Northwood, Iowa; and Darla Clapp of Granger, Minn.; six grandchildren; one brother, Lester Clapp and his wife Marcelle of Rochester, Minn.; and one sister, Alta Jean Faubert and her husband Jim of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Dorothy and one son David James Clapp.
