Qbituary.
George Collins was born at Bury, St. Edmons, Old England, May 5, 1823, and died in Cresco, Iowa, Sept. 10, 1898, aged 75 years 4 months and 5 days. He was married to Louisa Tull, Oct. 13, 1844. Two little girls were born to them, one dying in infancy, the other, Mrs. G. W. Combs, who now resides in Cresco.
Mr. and Mrs. Collins with their daughter came to America in 1851, locating in New York state for 14 years. In 1865 they came to Cresco where they have resided ever since. One grandson living with them for the past 15 years.
Mr. Collins’ funeral was held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Mitchell formerly pastor of that church preached the sermon, Ecclesiastics 12, 5-6 verse. The remains were laid to rest in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Mr. Collins was a consistent christian, a loving husband and father and a kind friend and neighbor.
