Child Drowned.
The little two year old boy of Patrick Dunn was playing about the farm yard last Tuesday as happy as any little child could he. He came running to the house with a green apple in his hand which he had found under a tree. The mother seeing it gave him a piece of cake telling him to throw the apple away. He started from the house and the mother busied herself with her work. The mother soon began to wonder why her little boy did not return and began looking for him. To her great horror she found him lying in a large water tank drowned, the apple and piece of cake still grasped in his little hands. He had evidently climbed up on the tank, falling in and was unable to help himself. The funeral was conducted by Father Nolan at St.Cecilia, a large number of sympathizing friends and neighbors attending.— Elma News.Source: Decorah Republican July 14, 1898 P 3 C 2
