Obituary.
William Brierly was a native of England having been born in 1825 and died near Cresco, Dec. 5, 1897, aged about 72 years.
He came to the United States about the year 1847, making his home in Philadelphia until about the year 1868 or 9. He came to Iowa in 1870 and purchased the farm upon which he since resided and upon which he died. Some three or four years after coming to this county he was married with Miss Ann Bates, and to them several children were born, all who are living, residing in this vicinity.
He was an upright man, respected by all who knew him, a kind neighbor and a worthy citizen. Those who mourn his death have the sympathy of the public in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: His last name is spelled Brierley on his gravestone in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
