Mr. Michael Montague, one of the pioneer settlors of Howard county, died at his home upon the farm which he entered as government land near Lourdes, more than forty years ago. Upon this farm he and his good wife raised and educated a family of sons and daughters of whom any parent might well be proud. He was born in Ireland and came to the United States when a young man. He was a man of fair education and a great student of economic questions all his life, held several township offices, always discharged their duties with fidelity and sound judgment. He was above all a man of good morals and exemplary in all the relations of life and good citizenship, and will be mourned not only by his own family, but by all his friends and acquaintances, as a one of worth is always mourned.
Transcriber’s Note: There is a Michael Montague buried in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery but the year of death shows 1898 on his gravestone.
