Henry Heinmiller, one of the old settlers of Howard county, died at his home near Elma, June 14, 1897, at the age of 76 years. Mr. Heinmiller was born in Germany, but emigrated to this country 44 years ago. Till 1869 he had his home in Albany, N. Y., when he moved to Iowa bought and improved his present homestead. Though a native of Germany always having the fatherland near at heart, he became one of those thrifty, naturalized citizens of the U. S to whom the country owe so much. His sterling character, his thoroughly honest methods in dealing with his neighbors made him a a{sic} large number of friends.
His disease was a complication of ills. For several years his health has not been good, and for two months before his death he was confined to his bed, suffering a great deal till relieved last Monday. Mrs. Heinmiller, his oldest son Jacob, a publisher in Albany, N.Y., and his youngest child, Emma, preceeded{sec} him in death some years ago. His sons John, Nicholas, William J. and George, and his daughter, Mrs. Franzwa, are still living in this vicinity while the others are scattered, Henry doing business in St Louis, Rev. G. Heinmiller is an editor at Cleveland, O., and Rev. L. resides at Syracuse, New York.—Times.

Transcriber’s Note: Howard Cemetery records indicate he was born November 15, 1820.
