Julia Ann Wallace.
Julia Ann Loyd was born in New Market, Canada, Feb. 10, 1819, and died July 8, 1896, at Ridgeway, Iowa. She was married to Nathan Evans April 3, 1837. With him she returned to Stephenson county, Illinois.
Of this union four children were born, two of whom are still living; J. L. Evans, of Cresco, and Mrs. G. R. Baker, of Ridgeway. Her husband died in Stephenson county, Ill., in March, 1847.
Feb. 16, 1849, she was united in marriage with Hiram Wallace, with him she removed to Howard county, Iowa, arriving here July 12, 1856. Two children were born to this union, Albert L. Wallace and Geo. H. Wallace, both of Albion. Howard county, who were privileged to be with her in her last illness.
Twelve years ago on Aug. 23, 1884, she was bereaved of her husband, Hiram Wallace. A portion of these years since she has lived in Cresco.
Two years ago this fall she came to Ridgeway to make her home with her only daughter, Mrs. G. R. Baker. There, with every comfort this world affords and tenderly cared for by the loving hands of her children, she met as a welcome messenger the Great Reaper who silently puts in the sickle of the great harvest of life.
