BARNHART—Lime Springs, Ia., July 6, 1896, of heart trouble, Mr. Jacob D. Barnhart, aged 69 years and 12 days.
Jacob D. Barnhart was born at Hoosick, Rensselaer Co., N. Y., June 24th, 1836. When about eight years of age, he moved with his parents to Gowanda. When about twenty years of age, he moved to Buffalo where he learned the trade of a shipsmith. Shortly after he had finished learning his trade, he came West and settled in Lime Springs where he has since resided with the exception of the time he served in the war. He enlisted from Erie Co., N. Y., in Co. C., 100 Reg., Oct. 23, 1861, as a private soldier, and was honorably discharged Jan. 25, 1865. After the close of the war, he returned to Lime Springs. He was united in marriage, Sept. 18th, 1870, to Miss Catharine O'Brien, of Taopi. Minnesota. His wife and five children survive him.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. J. Bowder, from his late residence, July 8, 1896, at 2:90 p. m., and he was laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the community.—Sun.
