Lime Springs-
The body of Joseph F. Sheldon was conveyed to its final resting place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Saturday afternoon. Services were held in the Presbyterian church at 2 o’clock and were conducted by Rev. C. E. Fulton, assisted by Rev. Bowder of the M. E. church. A company of the Lauman Post, G. A. R., of which Mr. Sheldon was a member, met the body at the down-coming train and followed it to the church. After the services, and while gathered at the grave, Comrade D. H. Winegar made a short but impressive speech, eulogistic of the deceased.
Mr. Sheldon was born in Ontario, Canada in 1819. Shortly afterward he moved to Vermont and thence to Wis. He came to Lime Springs in ’58 and enlisted in the war of the rebellion, returning to this place upon the disbanding of the army. A few years ago he went to St. Paul to live with his son, Osmer and family. He had lately been in a feeble condition, but his death was brought about by injuries sustained from a fall received a week ago. He never regained consciousness and died on Thanksgiving night.
