Evelyn Eiffler, 85, of Lime Springs, IA, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Riceville Family Care Center in Riceville, IA.
Evelyn was born on January 20, 1925 in York Towhship, Fillmore County, MN, on a farm called "White City". She was the daughter of Ernest A. and Mabel (Osterhaus) Stockdale. She was baptized on July 19, 1925 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She attended county school in Beaver Township District 106. She worked for her room board at $2.00 a week and attended LeRoy High School, graduating in June 1943. She worked in Minneapolis as a waitress for 6 months, and as a waitress in Austin until she got called to work at Hormel's Packing Plant. After working there for three months, she returned home to care for her mother, who had turned sick. She worked for other families doing housework and chores.
She married Clarence Eiffler on July 25, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on July 1, 1945. To this union two children were born, Betty and Duane. They lived on a farm near Davis Corner\'s until they bought a farm in Howard Center in Howard County, IA in 1947. Clarence passed away on December 3, 1981. She continued to farm with her son. She was active in A.L.C.A., where she held the offices of secretary and treasurer for 2 terms, as well as other positions. She taught Sunday School and sang in the Choir. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and belonged to and held offices in the Martha Circle, including President. Evelyn was also a long time member of the American Legion Aux.
Following Clarence's illness she became overwhelmed caring for both her husband and her mother who passed away on October 11, 1982.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Duane (Irene) Eiffler of Lime Springs, IA, a daughter Betty Jean (Roger) Buchholtz of Elkader, IA, six grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret (Raymond) Anderson of Fredericksburg, IA, and Thelma (Don) Holmen of Dexter, MN, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Louis, Vernon, and Glenn Stockdale.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs, IA.Visitation:
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA, as well as one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.Service:
