Maxine Krause passed away on August 18, 2010, at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Maxine Krause was born October 6, 1920, the daughter of Earl and Lydia Griffith Vaubel, on the family farm near Dysart, Iowa. She had one sister, Lorraine Drummond. Maxine was baptized and confirmed in the Dysart Methodist Church and graduated from Dysart High School in 1938. Maxine attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri, and graduated in l939. There she met the love of her life', Karl E. Krause. Maxine returned to Waterloo, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary to the purchasing agent for Rath Packing Company.

On April 16, 1944, Maxine married Karl Krause at her family home in Buckingham, Iowa. Karl was serving in the Army during World War II and reported to overseas duty after their wedding. Maxine remained in Waterloo, working and volunteering her free time to the Red Cross to support the soldiers and the war effort. Karl returned home from the war in October 1945.

In l946, Maxine and Karl moved to Cresco, Iowa. Along with partner, Claire Wyatt, they purchased the Kellow Grocery Store and were part of that business for five years. In l950, Maxine began working for the Cresco Union Savings Bank and remained there until her retirement in l985. Maxine's bank family was a very important part of her life.

Maxine and Karl enjoyed their retirement years and filled their time with travel, gardening, friends and enjoying their home and church. Maxine was an active member of the Cresco United Methodist Church. In 2006, Maxine and Karl moved to the Cresco Assisted Living. At the time of Maxine's death, she was a resident of the Evans Memorial Home, Cresco, Iowa.

Maxine is survived by her husband of 66 years, Karl, her niece, Nancy and Jim Kienast and family of Powderly, Texas, and nephew, Jim and Gloria Krause and family of Sunnyvale, California.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lorraine.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be at the Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, Iowa, at a later date.

Visitation:
No visitation will be held.

Service:
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Maxine Krause will be held on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010, at 2pm at the Cresco United Methodist Church, Cresco, Iowa. Pastor Mike Carey officiated at the service.
