Jane M. Voyek was born on June 29, 1944 to August and Emma Hruska in Cresco, IA. She attended a country school near her family’s farm for several years, then transferred to a larger school in Cresco. Jane loved to sing and was a soprano in the glee club at Cresco High School, from which she graduated in 1961. Her junior year, Jane started dating Larry Voyek, a fellow parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. They were married at that church on August 25, 1962.
The newlyweds lived in Ames where Larry was a student at Iowa State University and Jane worked at a local bank. She had fond memories of being eight months pregnant with their first child when Larry graduated. The couple moved to Des Moines after their daughter, Lauri, was born. When son Michael arrived in 1966, they bought a house in Ankeny. Their third child, Thomas, was born in 1969. Jane thoroughly loved being a wife and homemaker. She felt that “Mom” was the most important role of her life. Jane enjoyed cooking and collected shelves of cookbooks. She and Larry took their young family camping and canoeing. They valued extended family relationships and made the effort to attend holiday reunions.
The family relocated to Noblesville, IN in 1978. Jane participated in various activities at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She also enjoyed walking and riding her bicycle around the neighborhood. Jane’s love of walking continued into her years of retirement community living. She enjoyed live entertainment and made it a point to thank performers for sharing their talents. Jane most recently lived in Florissant, MO.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Lauri (Ed) Dick and son, Michael Voyek; grandson David Dick; siblings Bea Miller, Marcella Burke, Jim (Margaret) Hruska, Irene (Jerry) Kirschbaum; sisters-in-law JoAnn Dostal, Susan Belschner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry and son, Thomas; and brothers-in-law Matt Miller, Charles Burke, Jerry Dostal, Mark Belschner.
