Clara Jacobs was born on April 25th, 1857, at Eslingen, Germany, where she grew to womanhood. In 1874, she with her father, brothers and sister immigrated to this country and settled near Ft. Atkinson in Winneshiek county, Iowa. On June 10th, 1879, she was united in marriage to Frank Drilling. In 1910 they moved to their present home where she passed away peacefully Aug. 27th. after patiently suffering an illness of about one week. She leaves behind a sorrowing husband with 11 children, Theresa Gerleman, of St. Lucas Iowa, Sr. M. Generosa, of Menomonie, Wis., Maggie Hauer, ot St. Lucas, Iowa, and those living at Cresco, all of whom were present at the funeral which took place on Saturday morning, Aug. 29th at ten o’clock with requiem high mass, Rev. Father Wagener officiating. Burial at St. Joseph’s cemetery.
Mrs. Drilling leaves behind her a record of absolute honesty, purity and fairness in all the years of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’a church and died comforted by the last sacred rites of her faith.CARD OF THANKS
