Chris. Powers, who has been in failing health for over a year, died Tuesday night at his home in Cresco. The funeral takes place at the home this afternoon at 2 o’clock.

Christopher Powers was born in St. Lawrence County, New York, on July 10, 1832. He was married to Adelphia Monaque on December 25, 1862, at Potsdam, New York. They moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1864, and to Howard County, Iowa, in 1877. To the union was born nine children, five of whom have passed away and four are living, namely: Charles Powers, of Cresco; Elias Powers, of Minneapolis, Minn.; William Powers, of Fargo, N. D.; and Mrs. Nellie Willowby, of Crosby, N. D. On May 30, 1884, his wife passed away and on June 6, 1890, be was married to Jane Hudson who survives him. He died on Tuesday, September 1, 1914. The funeral was held from the home on Friday afternoon, September 4th, with interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
