Muscatine, Iowa - Franklin Wentworth, 81, of Muscatine, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Pearl Valley Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Memorial services were held May 31, 2017 at the Jesus Mission Church, Muscatine. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Franklin’s name. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services cared for Franklin’s family and the arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com .
Franklin Gene Wentworth was born on April 17, 1936 in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Arthur W. and Lydia M. (Weber) Wentworth.
On June 14, 1970, Franklin was united in marriage to Reena Partington at the United Methodist Church in Columbus Junction, Iowa.
Franklin had worked for Rath Packing in Waterloo, Iowa and later in Columbus Junction before joining Grain Processing Corporation, from which he retired in 1990. He was a very active member of the Mount Zion-Word of Faith Church and enjoyed leading the congregation in singing until the church closed its doors. He then began attending the Jesus Mission Church. Franklin’s lifelong passion was being a servant of God, although he also enjoyed fishing with his son, bowling and singing when the opportunity presented itself.
Franklin will be missed by his children, Jason H. (Heidi) Wentworth of Urbandale, Iowa, Erinn (David) Rowe of Ankeny, Iowa and Ryan (Aaron) Woelfel of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and siblings, Betty (Elmer) Farghum of Mason City, Iowa, Roger (Lorrine) Wentworth of Cresco, Hazel (Bill) Walker of Cresco and Helen Fuller of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Walton; brother, Floyd Wentworth; and sisters, Eleanor Tipy and Dorothy Slifka.
