Donald Joseph Todora, 70, of Cresco, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord on November 19, 2016.

Donald was born miraculously in St. Paul, MN on October 18, 1946, weighing a whopping 1 lb. 12 oz. to Angelo and Lucille Todora. Doctors told them he wouldn't live. Don being the strong person he was, he thrived. When he was 6 years old, Don once again showed his strength as he fought polio and came out strong.

When Don was 17 he joined the Navy Reserves and then went to active duty after graduating High School. He enjoyed the Navy and said, "I always ate good and saw beautiful places!"

After leaving the Navy, he met Rita Walter and married 2 ½ months later. They celebrated 49 years of marriage on November 10th this year. He went on to father 11 children.

In 1995 Don and Rita moved to Cresco and retired in 2009. He loved sitting outside his home, and saying hello to everyone who went by. Shortly after retirement he was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease, which he then struggled with. He continued to keep his faith and positive attitude.

Don's favorite bible verse was "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Don is survived by his wife Rita, his children Serena Guest, Shawn Todora, Sarah (Ray) Browning, Becky Todora, Naomi (Chris) Temple, Andrew Todora, David Todora, Brenda (Lee) Pecinovsky, Deanna (Bryon) Ishman, Mary (Dave) Capouch, and Francie (Jon) Hayek, his grandchildren Marissa, Jasmine, Alex, Michael, Vanessa, Aiden, Bridget, Elizabeth, AJ, Zachary, Luke, Jenna, Max, Angelina, Brayden, Sebastian, Emmalyn, Griffin, William, and also his great-grandchildren Zamariana, Jaylee, Rylee, Zhailiana, and Noa Grace.
