Funeral services for Mildred Walleser of Lansing were held Tuesday, November 14 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing. Rev. Daniel Knipper officiated. Interment was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Tom, Fred, Jim and Jack Walleser, David Hawes and Dan Freiburger. Honorary pall bearers were: Mary Delaney, Diane Walleser, Donna Johnson, LeAnn Peters, Carol Bottorff and Phyllis Martino. Thomburg-Hanson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mildred, 79, died Friday, November 10, 2000 at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI.
Mildred Louise Walleser was born March 16, 1921 daughter of Adolph and Louisa (Bouska) Busta in Protivin. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1938, attended Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City and did secretarial work for a law office. She then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette.
On September 15, 1970 she married Francis Walleser in Cresco. Millie worked with the Dept, of Social Services in Howard County and received a State of Iowa Service Certificate for 40 years of meritorious service to the state and personal dedication to the welfare of its citizens from Governor Terry Branstad. She was duly appointed to the Office of Notary Public for the years of 1978-1981 by Melvin Synhorst, Iowa’s Secretary of State.
She belonged to Wa-Tan-Ye and served as an officer. Millie also volunteered for Thornton Manor and Immaculate Conception Church, working on liturgy and bereavement committee.
She enjoyed traveling, quilting, cooking, canning and gardening.
Survivors include her husband Francis; one brother: Ed.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents.
