Services today for Beatrice Volkart, 86

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23 for Beatrice lone Volkart, 86, LeRoy resident who died Monday morning, March 20, 2000, at her home.

The Rev. Jerry Olson will officiate at the services in First Baptist Church of LeRoy. Interment will be in the LeRoy Cemetery.

She was born at her home in Howard County, Iowa Feb. 10, 1914, daughter of Carl B. and Minnie (Shephard) Hall. She attended Oakdale District No. 2 and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1933. She married George E. Volkart Dec. 16, 1933. To this union four children were born, Leland W„ Carl E., Verl W. and Julia Ann.

She was actively involved in the First Baptist Church of LeRoy and was also a member of the Oakdale ladies group. She lived on the family farm until two years ago when she moved into LeRoy to be closer to her daughter and family.

Survivors include her daughter, Julia Ann (Mrs. Mark Byrd), LeRoy; a brother, Gordon Hall, Ventura, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, George Volkart, who died in November of 1993; three sons, a grandson, sister and two brothers.

Visitation was Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy. Also one hour prior to the church services.
