There will be a private committal service in Washington, D.C. for Charles Steinmetz.
Charles, 61, died Sunday, October 8, 2000 following a lingering illness.
Charles A. Steinmetz was born in Cresco, the son of Leonard and Sigrid (Otteson) Steinmetz. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Cresco High School and the University of Northern Iowa.
Charles was chosen a member of the All-American Chorus and toured Europe; singing in the Westminister Abbey in London.
He taught music at Wapsie Valley School and entered the U.S. Army as a member of the Army Chorus. Charles continued working in the music field and was a member of the National Cathedral Choir in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include three sisters: Lois Gunhus of Decorah, Marian Wibben of Stewartville, MN, and Janet McFadden of Overland Park KS.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers: Harold, Robert and Leonard, Jr.
