ELMA - Marcella Recker, 90, Elma, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000 at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma with Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiating. Marge Gansen will be organist and accompany the Immaculate Conception Church Choir singing "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", "Be Not Afraid" and "Here I Am, Lord". Betty Boehmer will lector.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with John Kobliska, Keith Roethler, Linus Lentz, Raymond Kobliska, Francis Dieterich and Jim McGrane serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was after 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at Conway Funeral Home in Elma, with a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service.

Marcella Elizabeth Kellner was born Feb. 22, 1910 near St. Joseph, IA, the daughter of John and Anna (Hilbert) Kellner. She attended country school near her home. On June 1, 1938, she united in marriage with Lawrence A. Recker at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in St. Benedict. After their marriage the couple resided on a farm east of Alta Vista, then moved to a farm west of Alta Vista, in June 1982, they retired and moved to Elma. Marcella, was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Rosary Society. She enjoyed helping at the church, gardening and sewing.

Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth “Betty” (B) Upah, Belle Plaine, Kathleen "Kathy", (Delbert) Gregory, Hawaii, Sylvia (Bob) Kurth, Riverside, CA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie (Roman) Thill, Fairmont, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lawrence on Sept. 23,1993; one granddaughter, Vickie Ann Upah; four sisters, Catherine Bormann, Susan Arndorfer, Frances Godfredsen and Rosalia Ama; two brothers, Mathias and Vincent Kellner.
