Services held for William Polashek

Funeral services for William Polashek were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 14 at St. Joseph’s Worship Center in Cresco. The Rev. Michael L. Tauke officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Pall bearers were: Francis Polashek, Paul and Mark Montague, David Bond, and Dennis and Daniel Chvatal. Conway Funeral Hone handled the arrangements.

William, 97, died Thursday, February 10, 2000 at his home in Cresco.

William Joseph Polashek was born February 5, 1903 at Chelsea, the son of William and Rose (Bittner) Polashek. As a boy, the family moved to Protivin where Bill received his education, and grew to manhood.

On June 30, 1924 he married Rose Prasek at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family moved to Cresco and Bill was an owner of Polashek’s Grocery Store. When he retired from the grocery, he did carpentry work.

Survivors include two daughters: Mildred Daley and Connie Kepros both of Cresco; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his wife Rose on May 31, 1991; two daughters: Sr. Eloise Polashek SSSF in 1997 and Rita Kepros in 1981; his parents; four brothers: Frank and Joseph in infancy, Emil and Vincent; and five sisters: Mary Novak, Sr. Sophie Polashek SSSF, Stella Shimak, Sr. Mary Milada (Agnes) Polashek SSSF, and Anna Pednovsky Kovar.
