NEW HAMPTON - Michael Pitz, 37, Cresco, died Thursday, Jan. 6 at his mother's home in Elma.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton with Rev. Carol Christianson presiding. Edith Kolthoff was organist and accompanied soloist Richard Leichtman. Hymns included "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Burial was in the New Hampton Cemetery with Marvin Butters, James Blomgren, Mike Hobkirk, Rick Ohrtman, Kevin Robson and Tim Hinck serving as casket bearers. Graveside military services were conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of New Hampton.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9 at the funeral home.

Michael Robert Pitz was born Feb. 1, 1962 at New Hampton, the son of Robert and Yvonne (Dowd) Pitz. He attended New Hampton High School and later attended area schools in Calmar and Cedar Rapids. After serving with the U.S. Navy, Mike worked with computers before working in roof construction. He recently had been employed by Featherlite Corp. in Cresco.

Surviving are his mother, Yvonne Pitz, Elma; his father, Robert, Kellogg; a son, Jason Funk, Conrad; two sisters, Julie (Chuck) Dockendorf, Elma, Lori (Wayne) Cody, Suffolk, VA; two brothers, Jim and his wife, Cindy, Colwell, Garth Bock, Montana; two uncles and two aunts.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; a sister, Roberta Pitz in infancy; an aunt.
