TIMES April 25, 1872 P3 C4

DIED--At Cresco, April 19th, of Congestion of Brain, Mr. John Gottshalk, in the 60th year of his age.

John Gottshalk was born in the city of Rostock, Mecklenburg, Schraerin, one of the principalities of the North German Confederation. He attained an age of 59 years, 1 month, and 7 days. Emigrated to this country about 12 years ago, and resided part of the time at Elkader and Monona, and finally removed here about a year ago. Wherever he has been he has aways made many friends through his kindness of heart, and this principal feature of character will certainly leave a memory behind him of which those that are able to converse in a language fluently, of which he was no master, might well be envious. Without any pretence he quietly pursued his path. Peace to his ashes.
