from Elma library collection assembled by Marian (Marr) McGeeCharlotte M. Golly, 82, of Charles City, formerly of Alta Vista, died Friday, December 29, 2000 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City of natural causes.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elma with Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiating. Burial was in the St. Cecelia Cemetery, rural Elma with Conway Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Charlotte M. Golly was born August 15, 1918 in rural Alta Vista, the daughter of Bert and Clara (Doyle) Goodale. She attended Colwell School and later Deerfield School. She was united in marriage to Robert Golly on October 16, 1934 in Bethany, Missouri. After their marriage the couple farmed near Alta Vista. After her husband's death in 1989, she remained on the farm until moving to Charles City in 1996. Charlotte did custom sewing and was a seamstress for the Cinderella Shop & Band Box Cleaners until she retired.
Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Lockwood of Charles City, Linda (Bill) Hundt of Charles City, two sons, Kenneth (Kathy) Golly of Charles City, Harold (Priscilla) Golly of Austin, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert (August 30, 1989), one brother, Joseph Goodale.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elma with Reverend Roger R. Rethamel officiating. Theresa Burke was the organist and accompanied the Immaculate Conception Church Choir singing ' How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," "Be Not Afraid," "O Danny Boy," and "My Wild Irish Rose" will be organ solos. Lectors were John Huegel and Robin Hundt. Gift bearers were Bernard Goodale and Marilyn Klobassa. Charlotte’s family placed the pall.
Burial was in the St. Cecelia Cemetery, rural Eima with Floyd Bucthler, Wallace Schilling. John Huegel, Bernard GoodaTe, Jim Vsetecka, and Jerry Reiss serving as casket bearers.
Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1 at Conway Funeral Home, Elma, where there was a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service.
