Funeral services for Richard Cummings were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18 at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco. The Rev. Michael L. Tauke officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Richard, 63, died Friday, April 14, 2000 at the Regional Health Services Howard County Hospital.
Richard Leo Cummings was born August 17, 1936 in Howard County, the son of Francis and Mary (Harris) Cummings.
On November 27, 1957 he married Marlene Barnes at Holy Cross Church in Schley.
Dick spent eight years in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict. In 1968, Dick and his family returned to the Cresco area. He was an auctioneer and real estate agent for 16 years, before retiring due to health.
Dick was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, Assumption Parish Council, officer of the Notre Dame Home School Association, and on the board at the Evans Memorial Home.
Richard is survived by his wife Marlene of Cresco; two daughters: Julie Titus of Spearfish, SD, and Jill McConnell of Cresco; four grandchildren; and four sisters: Irene McGee of Austin, MN, Edna Miller, Geneva Peckham, and Margaret Burkett all of Cresco.
Richard was preceded in death by one grandchild; his parents; five brothers: Donald, George, Thomas, William and James; and one sister: Marie O’Neil.
