Funeral services for Emma “Peggy” Cleveland were held, at _:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21 at the Conway Funeral Home with burial in Chester Hill Cemetery at Chester. Rev. Lewis Flanigan officiated. Honorary pall bearers were nephews: Lester and Leslie Storey. Pall bearers were nephews: Larry Storey, Rick Storey, Larry Cleyeland, Gary Cleveland, Ray Storey and Wilfred Storey.

Emma, 92, died Friday, November 17, 2000 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

Emma Selma Cleveland was born March 26, 1908 in Chester, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Vogel) Hogger. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Lutheran Church in Chester, Emma graduated from Chester High School in 1926 and went to nurses training in Rochester, MN.

Following her education, she lived in Des Moines and worked in the Ordinance Plant in Ankey{sic} during World War II making 30 and 50 caliber ammunition. While she lived in Des Moines, she made every attempt to visit her parents every weekend.

On October 28, 1958 she married George Cleveland at Spring Valley, They farmed and had a dairy cattle operation in the Chester area until their retirement in 1979, when they moved to Cresco.

Emma was very happy on the farm and loved her cows and cats.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband George in 1989; her parents; four sisters: Lena Hogger, Sophie Storey, Elsie Moss and Esther Gager; and one brother: Herman.
