CEDAR FALLS — Gertrude I. Cashman, 87, formerly of Elma, died of natural causes Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton with Rev. David Bergstrom officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Elma.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at the Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton.

Gertrude was born June 5, 1913 in Riceville, the daughter of Lynn and Beth (Grober) Markham. She attended school in Elma and Riceville. She was united in marriage to Louis Cashman on Jan. 19, 1931 in Elma. Following their marriage the couple resided in Elma, then later moved to Clermont, Elkader, Tripoli and then Waterloo. She spent her married years as a homemaker. She enjoyed interior decorating and crafting.

Survivors include two sons, Dean (Monica) Cashman, Urbandale and Don (Romy) Cashman, Harpers Ferry; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Anderson, Phoenix, AZ and Marian Colander, Brandon, OR.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Louis on March 16,1975, one sister, Laura Bentrup; two brothers, Grober Markham and Merril Markham.
