from Elma library collection assembled by Marian (Marr) McGeeFuneral services for Eileen Botelho of rural Harmony, MN will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 26, at Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony. The Rev. Steve Peterson will officiate. Interment will be in State Line Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Eileen, 90, died Sunday, April 23, 2000 at the Cresco Care Center following a long illness.
Eileen Ryan Botelho was born August 19, 1909 in rural Riceville, the daughter of Walter and Winifred (Cashman) Ryan. Following graduation from Cresco High School she taught for several years in rural schools near Cresco. She then entered St. Francis School of Nursing in LaCrosse, WI graduating as a registered nurse in 1944. She practiced nursing at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Veterans Hospital in Chicago, and County Hospital in San Jose, CA. She served one year in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII.
On February 19, 1947 she married Joseph Botelho in San Jose, CA. They made their home there until Joseph’s death in 1962. Eileen then returned to the Harmony area.
Eileen is survived by one sister: Mercedes Ryan of Mason City; and two brothers: Roger and William both of Harmony.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers: Vincent, Donald, and Martin; and four sisters: Catherine Hill, Lavonne Addison, Elizabeth Ryan and Alice Lavonne Ryan.
