Funeral services for May Betts, 86, were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco. Interment was in New Oregon Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Flanigan officiating.
May died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco.
May Wilhemina Betts was born on a farm south of Cresco in New Oregon Township on May 4, 1913, the daughter of Joseph W. and Mary (Pecinovsky) Pecinovsky. She attended the rural school and helped her parents with the farm chores. She worked at the Red Hut, Birtwistle’s Rest Home and the Cresco Greenhouse for almost 10 years. After her marriage, she had her own business making flower arrangements for all occasions.
In 1932 she married John Elmer Betts at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Cresco and she lived there until her health would no longer permit.
May is survived by one brother, Ernest Pecinovsky at the Cresco Care Center; and two sisters, Anna Havel of Cresco and Grace Roszell of Waterloo.
She was preceded by her husband, February 24,1964; her parents; two brothers, Eddie and George; and five sisters, Frances, Caroline, Elsie, Ida Voves and Clara Horn.
