from Elma library collection assembled by Marian (Marr) McGeeFuneral services for Grace Anderson were held at 10:30 a.m. Thurs¬day, July 13 at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco. Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Pall hearers were: Daryl Schmitt, George Vachta, Art Laabs, Paul Schlindwein II, Tom Vachta and Harold Berge. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Grace, 86, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI.
Grace Marie Anderson was born October 13, 1913, the daughter of Paul and Isabelle (Evanson) Haugen. She graduated from the Decorah High School.
On February 9, 1932 she married Garnet Anderson at the Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. When Garnet retired from the farm in 1973, they moved into Cresco where she lived until after Garnet’s death in 1995. In December of 1999 she moved to Edgar, WI to be near her daughter. She was able to take care of herself and lived in an assisted living facility.
Grace was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Assumption Altar and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed playing cards.
Grace is survived by two daughters: Rosemary Schmitt of Edgar, WI, and Geraldine Schlindwein of Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Garnet; her parents; three brothers: Clarence, Leonard, and Edgar; and two sisters: Ella Stiyer and Jeanette Sande.
