Harriet Aleta, the youngest daughter of W. Mead and wife, aged 7 month and 23 days, was taken ill last week with a severe sore throat which soon developed into a malignant form of catarrhal croup. The doctor’s skill seemed of no avail in this case, as the little one hourly grew worse, and the sorrowing relatives were called upon to close the little eyes and fold the tiny hands above the pulseless breast of their darling on Saturday morning at ten o’clock. The funeral occured on the following day at 2:30 P. M. The second child, Marian Evelyn, was also taken with the same disease and was very ill at the time of the funeral. Upon returning from the cemetery the fear that dwelt in the already lacerated hearts of the parents was almost realized, and at 8:30 the same evening their second treasure was also snatched from their arms by the ruthless hand of death. Little Marian was aged one year six months and four days. The funeral occured at the house on Tuesday. May the kind hands of the Father smooth the pathway of these sorely afflicted ones.—Elma Register.
