An Unexpected Death.
For quite a number of years Eugene W. Searles has had precarious health, though having the appearance of a robust constitution. For considerable of the time during the past year he had been compelled to spend a portion of his time out of the treasurer’s office where he had been employed as deputy. During the past ten days much of his time was out of the office. Sunday he was down town but feeling all out of sorts. Monday he was confined to the house and under the treatment of Dr. Barrett, who considered his condition critical. On that day his wife telephoned for his brother Will, at Lime Springs, who came down and was with him that night. Tuesday morning his symptoms were alarming and unexpectedly he breathed his last. The deceased was born at the old town of Lime Springs, had been a resident of this county all his days. During the four years P. T. Searles was county treasurer Eugene was his deputy, serving in the same capacity during the two terms of H. C. Salisbury and thus far during the terms of Levi H. Sisco as county treasurer. He was capable and efficient, honest. faithful and true in the discharge of his duties, With his bereaved widow and relatives the people of the county have the most profound sympathy in this sad and sorrowful affliction.
