J. C. Fessenden died last Wednesday night, at an advanced age, being considerable over eighty, and has been in failing health for some time.

Obituary.James Crosby Fessenden was born in the state of New Hampshire May 11, 1815, and died at the home of his grandson, Mr. Frank Hall, Cresco, Iowa, Thursday, March 12, 1896.
Mr. Fessenden was married to Miss Mary Young in his twentieth year, they living happily together for nearly sixty years. She preceding him to the other shore three years ago next June. Mr. Fessenden, had been a christian from early manhood, becoming a member of the Baptist church at Lime Springs many years ago, and was a member of the Baptist church of Cresco when he died. Ten children survive him, three of whom reside in this county; Mrs. J. A. Hall, Cresco, Mrs. Joseph Wilhelm, Howard Center, and Mr. I. J. Fessenden, Superintendent of the County Farm.
Funeral services were held at the home of his grandson, Frank Hall, at 11:30 a. m., Friday March 13th, conducted by his pastor, Rev. S. H. Mitchell of the Baptist church. The burial was at the cemetery near Lime Springs, besides the grave of his wife. – Republican.
