D. D. Davis, aged 77 years, at his home west of the old town, March 9. Mr. Davis was an old resident of Forest City township, having come here some 28 years since. For 12 years he has been totally blind, but up to the time of his death he was in full possession of all his other faculties. All winter he has been ailing and when seized with the dread pneumonia, his advanced years failed to support him during his illness. He died surrounded by his loving wife, a married daughter living at Austin, and his two sons, John and Dan. His other son, Tom, who lives at Brainerd, Minn., was sent for and arrived Tuesday afternoon. Two daughters, one living in Kansas, another in New York, could not be present in time for the funeral, which was held at the Welsh church Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Mr. Davis was a man of superior qualities, well loved by those who knew him, ever cheerful and pleasant even in the presence of his great affliction. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: There is a David D. Davis buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the same date of death; however the age is not the same.
