Las Vegas, Nev. - Edith Minnie (Miles) Norman, age 86, died peacefully at Vintage Park Memory Care in Las Vegas, Nev. on March 3, 2016.

Edith was born in Saratoga, Iowa to Clifford and Phyllis (Louvar) Miles. After graduating from Riceville High School in 1948, she attended and graduated from business college in Mason City, Iowa.

In the early 1950s, Edith briefly worked in Waterloo, Iowa and later moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa with her sister, Elizabeth, where they worked for Collins Radio Company. Circa 1956 Edith and her sisters, Amy and Marguerite, moved to Rochester, Minn. and worked at the Mayo Clinic. In 1959, she moved to Denver, Colo., where she met and married Milton Norman on Jan. 27, 1962. In 1963 the couple moved to New Orleans, La., where they worked for the NASA space program. In 1965 they relocated to Las Vegas, where she was employed by EG&G, Special Projects, as head accountant until her retirement in 1992.

Edith enjoyed collecting Hummels, stamps and Native American art by Penne-Anne Crosse. She loved traveling, exploring different cultures and meeting people. She was a member of the National Audubon Society, The Smithsonian and Hummel Collectors Guild. In their later years, the Normans volunteered for the VFW and the retired U.S. Marine Corps Leathernecks.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Phyllis Miles; husband, Milton; sister, Elizabeth Ann (Butterfield) Colwell; and brother-in-law, Dean Kelsey.

Edith is survived by her sisters, Ethel (John) Yonts of Rushford, Minn., Amy Miles of Greenbrae, Calif. and Marguerite Kelsey of Denver. Edith was not blessed with children of her own but was greatly loved by special niece, Julie (Butterfield) Elrod and grand-niece, Isabella Elrod of Las Vegas; stepdaughter, Sheree Norman, and granddaughter, Jessica Zapata of Quincy, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Please join us in a memorial service celebrating Edith's life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Saratoga Community Church, followed by graveside interment of her ashes at the Saratoga cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Saratoga Community Hall.
