Borgan, Gaylord John 1929 - 2016

Gaylord J. Borgan, age 87 of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 19, 2016 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Gaylord John Borgan was born February 1, 1929 on a farm in rural Fillmore county, Minnesota to Tollef and Lena (Hovey) Borgan. He attended rural country school. Then worked on the family fam as well as several farms in the area. In 1947 he began working for H.H. Lubbers doing carpenter work. Gaylord married Patricia Gasser on February 1, 1951 in the Saetersdal Lutheran Church. He was inducted into the U.S. Army and proudly served from February 1951 until February 1953. Upon his discharge he returned to Lime Springs and worked as a carpenter. In 1960 Gaylord and Patsy moved to the country and began farming. They farmed together for many years until Gaylord began working for Howard County Highway Department in 1981. During his fifteen-year employment with the county, Gaylord and Patsy purchased a home in Lime Springs and have lived there until the present time. Gaylord was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs. H was an active member in the American Legion Post 545 of Lime Springs.

Gaylord is survived by his four children: Judy (Patrick) Weiss of Alma, Wisconsin, Terry Borgan of Auburn, Nebraska, Rodney (Rose) Borgan of Spring Valley, California and Jane Borgan of Yorba Linda, California. Gaylord was blessed with five grandchildren: J. Michael (Ashley) Weiss, Karisten (Isaac) Chavez, Katelyn Borgan, Christopher Borgan and Crystal Borgan; three great-grandchildren: Harper Claire Weiss, Raelee Ann Chavez and Mia Rose Chavez, with one little bundle of joy due in June. Several nieces and nephews as well as countless friends survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, parents and four siblings: Olaf Borgan, Foster Borgan, Hazel Davis and La Vonne Keune, and a granddaughter, Crystal.

Gaylord is now at peace, Blessed be his memory.
