Funeral Saturday for Mrs. Sarah Thomas

Sarah Richards, youngest daughter of Thomas and Hannah Richards, came from Caerfriddin, Wales, to this country in 1851, and settled on a farm near Exonia, Jefferson county, Wisconsin, where Mrs. Thomas was born December 22nd, 1852, and departed this life on the evening of November 12, 1941, at the advanced age of 88 years, 10 months and 21 days. She was the last survivor of five brothers and three sisters, who preceded her to the life beyond many years ago.
She spent her girlhood at the place of her birth, where she was married to John F. Thomas in the year 1876. They continued to reside in Exonia, where their two sons, Frank of Tacoma, Wash., and George of Enderlin, N.D., were born, until the spring of 1884, when they moved to Iowa, and settled on a farm in Albion township, Howard county.
Mr. Thomas passed away in February 1892, leaving Mrs. Thomas to carry on the farm with the help of her two young sons. Some little time later she disposed of the farm and moved to Cresco, Iowa, she entered the nurses profession, which she followed until failing health caused her to retire. After this she resided at the Geo. Champlin home in Cresco for fifteen years.
Because of her longing to spend her last days with her loved ones, she went to live with her son George at Enderlin, N.D., where she received tender care until her Master called her home.
In young womanhood she united with the Methodist church and continued to be a faithful member throughout her long and very useful life.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her two sons with their wives, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, besides her many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Larson funeral chapel in Lime Springs Saturday afternoon, Nov.. 15. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The Rev. Trevor Williams of Lime Springs officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Vander Bie sang two hymns at the funeral. Pall bearers were W.R. Williams, John Foulkes, B.E. Thorne and T.G. Thomas.
