Joseph P. Kubik, age 73, of Rochester, MN formerly of Cresco, IA passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Lourdes, IA. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 N Elm Street Cresco, IA, with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time of service Tuesday at the church.

Joseph Patrick Kubik was born March 17, 1942 in Cresco, IA to Edward and Beata (Praska) Kubik. He was a 1960 graduate from Notre Dame High School in Cresco. After high school, Joseph enlisted into the United States Navy. On October 28, 1967, Joseph was united in marriage to Kay Doherty, they later divorced. He retired from the Navy in 1981 as a chief petty officer after 20 years of service. He then worked for the Rochester Postal Service. Joseph was very proud of his service and was a huge supporter of the current men and women serving. Being from a Czech heritage, Joseph loved to cook and bake Czech cuisine. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren making sure to spoil them.

Joseph is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Travis) Peterson of Elk River, MN and Traci (Patrick) Gannon of Savage, MN; grandchildren, Drew Peterson and Anna, Olivia, and Daniel Gannon; siblings, Mary Ann (Bill) Odle of Chula vista, CA, Roger (Lynne) Kubik of Westminster, CO, and Raphel (Mary) Kubik of Bellevue, IA; sister-in-law, Patricia Gleason of Tallahassee, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beata, infant grandson, Chase Peterson, brothers, Edward Jr. and Stephen, nephew, Michael Odle, and niece, Erika Kubik.
