Carlton Ness, 60, of Mesa, Ariz. and Lime Springs, Iowa, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 in Lime Springs at the home of his ex-wife, where he had been staying for the past two weeks.
It was his wish to be cremated and not have any visitation or formal services.
Carlton James Ness was born on September 9, 1949, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Harry O. and Nola (Armstrong) Ness. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the United Lutheran Church in Chester. Carlton attended school at LeRoy-Ostrander and graduated with the Class of 1967. Following his secondary education, he attended an automotive trade school and moved to St. Paul, Minn. where he ran his own auto repair business in the late 70s.
He then moved to Arizona, graduated from the School of Public Safety, and served proudly as a Corporal with the Department of Public Safety. In 1998 Carlton moved back to Lime Springs.
Carlton was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Savage in Tombstone, Ariz. He loved restoring classic autos, of which Ruth spent many hours assisting him. He also liked to collect license plates and has many displayed on the walls of his garage.
He is survived by his mother, Nola Deguch of Mesa and his ex-wife, Ruth of Lime Springs.
Carlton was preceded in death by his father, Harry and his first wife, Joan Pauls.
