Diane "Shortly" Pecinovsky, age 69 of Cresco died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Hawkeye Care Center, Cresco, Iowa.
Diane was born on April 19, 1946 in Howard County, to Frank J. and Anna J. (Pecinovsky) Havel, she grew up on a farm south of Schley. She attended rural country school and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1964. After graduation, she continued to live on the family farm and helped with crops, haying, and other chores. Later that year, she started working as a Nurse Aid at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Later becoming a stay-at-home mom until moving to Cresco where she worked as a Nurse Aide at the Cresco Care Center and janitorial services for Assumption church, St. Joe's churches and the Farm Bureau building for several years. In 1998, she started working for Regional Health Services of Howard County in the Dietary Department until her retirement in January 2010. On July 17,1965, she was united in marriage to Roger J. Pecinovsky. They made their home in Schley and to this union, two children, Lisa and Lee, were born. In the early 1980's, the family moved to Cresco. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, and many friends, playing cards, fishing, gardening, canning, polka music, and cooking for her family and friends, especially making rosettes during the holidays of which she made over a 100 dozen of them for friends and relatives. Out of the kindness of her heart she would frequently make a casserole to give to a friend.
Diane is survived by 2 children: Lisa Pecinovsky of Shepherd, Montana and Lee (Brenda) Pecinovsky of Schley, Iowa; three grandchildren: Erik and Nikki Rye, and Jenna Pecinovsky; two step-grandchildren: Vanessa and Bridget Thomas; one great-grandson: Karter Rye; one step-great-granddaughter, Jaylee Henry; a sister, Janet Andera of Cresco; three nephews and two nieces. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, LeAnne Pecinovsky, she was also preceded in death by a Special Friend, Ed Jordan.
