Cresco- One person was killed and four were injured in a one-car crash at a T intersection near Cresco Wednesday night.
Gerald Courtney, 38, Cresco, was killed when the car driven by Larry Zoves, 23 Cresco, failed to turn at the T intersection on a county road seven miles north of Cresco and crashed into an embankment, according to Howard County Sheriff Percy Haven.
Zoves, and passengers Raymond O'Brien, 23, Boyd Dollman, 23, and James Ward, 37, all of Cresco, were hospitalized in "satisfactory" condition at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Cresco Thursday morning.
Services for Mr. Courtney will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Assumption Church in Cresco. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco.
Friends may call at the Peckosh Funeral Home in Cresco Friday, where the Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; three children, Timothy, Danny and Judy, all of Cresco; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Courtney, Bluffton, Ia., three brothers and four sisters.
