Carl Wedderspoon, 85, a long time resident of Cresco, Iowa passed away at his home on Monday, December 15, 2009. Funeral services were held Friday, December 18, 2009 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Carl Wedderspoon, 85, a long time resident of Cresco, IA passed away at his home on Monday, December 14, 2009.

Carl was born in Cooperstown, New York on March 19, 1924 to James and May (Allen) Wedderspoon. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942-1946. He operated the Schley Store for several years and was employed at the Cresco Liquor Store for over 45 years until November of 2009. Carl flew on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on November 4, 2009 to be recognized with World War II veterans and toured the War Memorials. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion.

Carl enjoyed traveling, car racing, playing cards, family and his many friends from the liquor store.

He is survived by nine children, Cindy (Bob) Fullerton of Ankeny, IA, Curtis Wedderspoon of Cresco, IA, Sid (Vickie) Wedderspoon of Willard, OH, Steve Wedderspoon of Dubuque, IA, Candy (Randy) Smith of Nora Springs, IA, Donna (Doug) Bruening of Cresco, IA, Diana Wedderspoon of Adana, Turkey, Craig (Karen) Wedderspoon of Waukon, IA, and Clark Wedderspoon of Marshalltown, IA, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters; Nola and Alta of New York, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gen, his parents, and two brothers; Arthur and James.

Cemetery:
Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery at a later date

Visitation:
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, and also one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Service:
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA.
