Ruth J. Reicks, age 83, of Cresco, IA, died Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, IA. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Cresco, IA. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time of service Friday at the church.

Ruth Jane Reicks was born on November 2, 1932, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Hovorka) Tupy in Spillville, IA. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1951. On September 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Bernie Eugene Reicks at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville.

Ruth was employed at Cresco Café and Clemmer’s Café. Together Bernie and Ruth farmed west of Cresco for 41 years before retiring to Cresco in 1992. Ruth enjoyed hand quilting, gardening, fishing, baking, and cooking. She was also involved in many church activities. Bernie and Ruth enjoyed being snowbirds and traveling to AZ and FL. Ruth also loved being surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband Bernie of Cresco, their children Steven (Sandy) of Cresco, Deb Reicks Carolan of Rochester, MN, Connie (Dan) Reicks Settergren of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Donna (Don) Reicks Friedhoff of Elma, IA, Mark (Mary) of Cresco, Kevin (Darla) of Ridgeway, IA, Tony of Cresco, 13 grandchildren, 18 ¾ great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, two sisters Rita Drilling of Sandstone, MN, and Irma (Neil) Kuennen of Waucoma, IA.

Preceding her in death are her parents, brother-in-law Gene Drilling, and nephew Joe Drilling.
