Madeline (Freel) Lowry died Aug. 22, 2012 in Riverside, Calif. at the age of 91.
Madeline was born May 1, 1921 in Lime Springs, Howard County, Iowa to Hiram and Alta (Schlosser) Freel. She attended school in Lime Springs, graduating in 1939 from Lime Springs High School.
When the war started, Madeline moved to San Diego, Calif., joining her older brother, Raymond Freel, to work in an airplane factory. She married Don Yearsley in the 1940s. He preceded her in death. In 1972 Madeline married her second husband, Louis Lowry Jr. and lived in Costa Mesa, Calif. In 1982 Louis preceded her in death.
Madeline is survived by a sister, Jean McGlothlen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a nephew, David (Connie) Riecke of Tucson, Ariz.; and nieces Kathy Freel (Ken) Loux of Atlanta, Ga., Karen Freel of Chicago, Ill. and Marilyn Freel (Ronald) Neuerburg of Eldora, Iowa. From Lou Lowry’s first marriage, Madeline is survived by son David (Sandra) Lowry, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond and Robert; and daughter, Mary Lou (Lowry) Southern.
