Arthur Carl Fred Prinz, 84, of Lime Springs, Iowa, passed away Jan. 24, 2012, at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Center in Riceville, Iowa.
He was born on May 31, 1927, in rural Maple Leaf, Iowa, to Otto and Etha (Matthias) Prinz. Arthur was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maple Leaf. He attended rural schools there.
Arthur farmed the family farm. He was united in marriage to Geneva Roesler in March of 1955. They were later divorced.
Arthur was drafted into the United States Army as a private in January of 1955. He was honorably discharged with a rank of private first class in December of 1956. Arthur continued farming following his discharge in 1956 and retired at the age of 66 after 44 years.
Arthur is survived by his one sister, Velma Kutzbach of Elma, Iowa; his former wife, Geneva Prinz of Lime Springs; 12 nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Etha, and one sister, Verona Bartels.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Lindstrom Funeral Home of Lime Springs was in charge of arrangements.
