Donna Petru, 76 of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
Donna was born the January 9, 1935 in Riverside, Iowa to Emily and Ralph Wieland. She married the love of her life, John Junior Petru July 25, 1957. The two have been married for 53 and one-half years. They grew up in the Riverside area. They have one son Jerry Joe Petru, named after Donna’s younger brother who still lives in the Riverside area. Her family moved to Sage Street, Lime Springs, Iowa, in January of 1975.
Donna was the local Avon sales person for the past 35 years. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother and wife. She was always by the side of her beloved husband and best friend John. They enjoyed playing bingo on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. When they were not playing bingo they would play dominoes, sometimes with friends, but almost always after supper each night. When they were younger, John and Donna liked to fish for bullheads in Waterville, Minn. and hunt for morel mushrooms in the spring.
She will be remembered by friends and family as a person, who cared, was giving and kindhearted. Her husband John was always with her and her son Jerry and his wife Yulia were always sending them postcard from their travels around the globe. She had enjoyed collecting postcards and plates with paintings from different cities and countries around the world which she proudly had displayed in her home.
It is with a child’s love I write this for my father and my mother. They have always been my foundation, a team and the best parents a man could ever ask for. Mother you will be missed but always loved and never forgotten. God Bless You and Rest in Peace Mom. Love always, your son, Jerry.
