Ruth M. Haynes, 86, of Cresco, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital, in Rochester, Minn.
She was born January 25, 1924, daughter of Werner Rewoldt and Lily Ann Rewoldt Chaney. She married the love of her life, Walter M. Haynes, in Frederika, Iowa, December 8, 1943.
Ruth attended country school and graduated from Frederika High School. She had many jobs during WWII while Walt was in the Army. After Walt got a teaching job, they moved to Keystone, Iowa and then to Cedar Falls, Iowa. In 1960, they moved to Cresco when Walt became Assistant High School Principal and Junior High Principal.
While in Cresco, Ruth worked a variety of jobs, one of which included driving to N. Winn. School District. She then accepted a position as Howard County Deputy Clerk of Court. After 14 years she retired in 1986.
Ruth loved God, her family, her flowers, and Bridge. She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the Rebecca Circle of Cresco.
Ruth’s life is honored by her husband, Walt; son Allan (Barbara) Haynes of Tipton and daughter Deb (Steve) Hackman of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Scott (Kristin) Hackman of Orangevale, Calif., Rachel Haynes of Belton, Texas, Kayla Hackman of Bella Vista, Ark. and Amanda (Isaac) Masoner of Paducah, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Paige Hackman and Peaceful Masoner; two sisters, Marcille Buckendahl Fox of Sumner, Iowa and Arlene Moeller of Cloverdale, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Elston Rewoldt; and a grandson, Matthew Hackman.
Her funeral will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1:00 p.m. Friday September 17, with burial following at New Oregon Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 16, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, Howard County Historical Society, or American Diabetes Association.
